Hidden among the rolling olive groves and sun kissed hills of the Peloponnese, lies a stone house that seems to hum with old stories. Its walls, built generations ago from warm honey colored rock, glow softly in the late afternoon light as though the Sun & Moon has taken refuge inside them.

Our home is named Sun & Moon Greek Village House because it sits in a rare and magical location where both the sun and the moon set in the same place on the horizon. This alignment makes our home feel deeply connected to nature and the rhythms of the sky. It’s a place where day and night share the same stage, a reminder that beauty doesn’t end with sunset; it simply changes form.

The Castle of Methoni is one of the most important fortified sites in Greece, with a strategic history that spans over 2,500 years. Its position at the southwestern tip of the Peloponnese gave it control over sea routes between the eastern and western Mediterranean.

A barbican is a fortified outwork a small, walled structure or tower placed outside the main entrance of a castle or city. It creates a controlled, narrow passage to slow down attackers before they reach the main gate.

The moat drawbridge, and gatehouse, the primary curtain wall that encloses the area, and the keep, which is the central stronghold

As you enter the town by its main roads, you reach a small but charming square at the junction of the two main streets. This square acts like a “gateway” between the road leading up to the castle and the town’s commercial street with shops and tavernas

For adventure lovers whether it’s water sports, biking, or hiking, this place offers plenty to keep the excitement alive.

The sunset in Methoni, Greece is one of the most beautiful in the Peloponnese-calm, golden, and framed by history and sea. Methoni sits on the western coast of Messenia, facing the open Ionian Sea. This means the sun sets directly over the water, creating wide, unobstructed views. The horizon glows with deep oranges, pinks, and purples that often reflect off the sea.
